Beautiful, medium-sized tree with a dense, broad-conical crown. The dark green leaves have 3-5 lobes and are 4-6 cm big. The autumn color is yellow. 'Elsrijk' resembles Acer campestre, ordinary field maple, but remains lower.

It is a valuable cultivar with good features. 'Elsrijk' may well be planted in partial shade and in pavement. This species is also less susceptible to mildew. Grows in any soil except very poor and dry sandy soil.
