Slow-growing multi-stemmed shrub with bright green, deeply cut leaves 6-10 cm long and reddish twigs. In autumn the leaves turn crimson very nice. The typical winged fruits are 1-1.5 cm. Acer palmatum grows almost as high as wide. Beautiful as a solitary. Grows best in a well drained and humus rich sandy soil. Is happy in partial shade but can also be in the sun.
