Small, very slow-growing shrub with characteristic growth form, wide spreading. The crown is wider than high, an old plant can be up to 3-4 meters in diameter. Brown-red leaves the whole summer, very deeply incised, 5-7 lobed. The autumn color is lighter red. Grows best in well-drained humus rich and sandy soil. Prefers partial shade.
