True weeping form, usually grafted at a height of about 2m20. The trunk is not continuous and the tree does not grow much higher than it is grafted. Branches and twigs hang gracefully down from the tree, giving the crown the shape of an umbrella. The fresh green leaf has a striking yellow autumn colour. Flowers rarely and therefore almost never bears catkins. Good arbour tree. Birches need light and do not tolerate a place in the shade. Grows on all soils.
