Cultivated, pyramidal form of the common hornbeam. Initially grows with a narrow-pyramidal crown, but older plants develop a broader, egg-shaped crown. The leaves are fresh green in spring and have a golden yellow autumn colour. The leaves fall off completely in winter. Excellent for high hedges, windbreaks or privacy screens. Thrives on all soils, dry or wet. Tolerates severe pruning.
