This cultivar of the hornbeam has spectacular autumn colors, from fiery red to orange. The growth habit and growth rate are the same as those of the common Carpinus betulus. It also retains the good other properties such as winter hardiness, health, and the tolerance for most grounds and sites. Just like the regular Carpinus, this cultivar also grows in poor soils, both dry and poor and heavy wet soils. The rooting is also strong, making the tree very tolerant of strong wind.
