This dogwood distinguishes itself from the other Cornus kousa types by its pink flowers. These vary from light pink (on dry soil) to pink-red (on moister soil). Broadly upright growing, with older age the crown becomes round to ovoid. The green leaves change colour beautifully in autumn, in golden to purple-red hues. Produces less fruit than other cultivars. They are up to 2 cm large and red. Requires good humus-rich soil that should not dry out during the growing season. Host plant for butterflies.
