Low-growing and spreading shrub that can grow up to 1.50 m wide. The fine twigs are reddish brown when young. The ovate to oval green leaves are 3-7 cm long and have a blue-green underside, the autumn colour is yellow. This shrub blooms in March-April before the leaves develop. Fragrant, light yellow, bell-shaped flowers that hang from the twigs in 3 cm long ears, richly flowering. Grows in both the sun and light shade, preferably on slightly acidic soil.
