Hazelnut with large ovate red leaves, reaching 4 to 6 meters high. Can be kept smaller by pruning. Yellow-red catkins in January-February, redder than other hazel trees. 'Red Zeller Nut' has a high productivity of well-filled nuts with a delicious taste. The red foliage certainly contributes to the ornamental value in the garden. Can be used as a solitary plant or as a big hedge. Tolerates a sunny position on almost any garden soil.
