Weeping form of the common green beech. Growing high and wide, with main branches that grow curved upwards. Along these main branches the younger twigs hang perpendicularly downwards, reaching to the ground, which gives this tree its characteristic silhouette. Does not grow on wet soils or soils with a fluctuating groundwater level. Is best planted on a well-drained, humus-rich soil. Very beautiful weeping tree, but requires a lot of space in the long term. In smaller gardens it is better to opt for the red weeping beech (Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea Pendula') of which all branches hang downwards, which results in a much smaller tree.
