This is the slowest growing and most compact of all Ilex meservaea cultivars. It is a dense shrub that grows to a height of 2.5 to 3 meters and a width of 2.5 to 3 meters when mature. Dense, spreading growth. The young leaves are purplish bronze. The adult leaves are dark and shiny and blue-green in color. The young twigs are strikingly bluish. It is a female cultivar, with pinkish-white flowers and large, shiny red fruits.

Holly grows in full sun, partial shade and shade, but requires a sufficiently moist, humus-rich soil. They do not like lime soil. Very wet soils are not suitable for holly.
Holly is very easy to cut and can be used as a solitary, in groups and as a hedge. Even the Romans already used holly to plant impenetrable hedges.
