Spectacular blood-red leaves, first green when they emerge, but from May onwards they turn bright red in the tips. Beautiful upright ornamental grass for a permeable humus-rich soil in full sun. It does not tolerate wet feet, and likes to be fertilised regularly. It is winter-hardy to -10°C, and therefore sometimes needs winter protection. Give it autumn lawn fertiliser in the autumn, this will make it stronger for the winter. Makes limited runners but moves a little. Prune it short in March, to 5 cm.
