These beautiful trees - just like sweet chestnuts excellent for use as a solitary plant - prefer a deeply permeable and preferably calcareous soil. Although slow-growing, they can grow into large trees of ± 15 m after years. Young trees from our nursery only bear fruit after 5 to 10 years.
