This small tree is a cross between Magnolia stellata and Magnolia kobus. It inherits the good qualities of both parents, namely the pure white star-shaped flowers of M. stellata and the upright growth habit of M. kobus. The flowers are fragrant and have a diameter of 10-15 cm. Fairly resistant to night frost. As a young tree this cultivar is rather narrow upright, but as an old tree the growth habit becomes rather broad.
