A new, faster growing selection from Magnolia stellata. The hairy flower buds are already visible before winter. In early spring the star-shaped flowers appear, which are soft pink at first but pure white once they are fully open. They are more resistant to night frost than the flowers of Magnolia stellata. This species already bears an abundance of flowers from a young age.

Colloquially incorrectly called 'tulip tree'. The real tulip tree is the Liriodendron. Magnolias grow best in lime-poor, fresh, permeable humus-rich soil, in a sunny, sheltered location.
