Miscanthus sinensis 'Red Chief' bears beautiful red flower spikes from September that are very striking. They are thick, bushy, dark red and then open up into silvery white fluff. The leaf is narrow, green with a white vein. The leaf turns a beautiful red/yellow in the autumn and then dries out straw yellow.

Very strong grass species in a well-drained soil that must be kept fertile. Very beautiful as a solitary or as a hedge plant.
