Dark green glossy leaves, prickly serrated, resembling holly leaves. Fragrant white flowers in September-October. Older, unpruned specimens sometimes get smooth-edged leaves.
Extremely strong evergreen species, which grows well in almost any soil, even in fairly moist soils. Very healthy plant that is also very winter-hardy. Suitable for massifs, pruning shapes, as a hedge plant or as a solitary shrub.
