Beautiful tree, similar to American oak, but with finer leaves and twigs. Grows relatively quickly and can become very large in the long term. With its straight trunk and horizontally planted branches in layers it has a typical and beautiful silhouette. The lobed leaf is up to 15 cm long, glossy dark green in the summer, and with a spectacular dark red autumn colour. It sometimes remains on the tree in a withered state until far into the winter, as with Fagus sylvatica (Beech). Also for wet soils.
