Beautiful columnar tree with a fairly narrow, dense crown. The adult height is 12-15 metres, with a width of about 3.5 metres. The ovate leaf is coarsely lobed, dark green, glossy and has a red to reddish brown autumn colour. In the winter, many withered leaves remain on the trees. Golden male catkins in May, later spherical fruits of 1 cm. Prefers slightly acidic soil and also tolerates wet soil.
