Glimmend groen blad met iets rode hoofdnerf. Compact groeiend. Als solitairstruik of haagplant voor halfhoge tot hoge hagen. Witte, opstaande bloemtrossen, 12-15 cm lang, juni, enkel op losgroeiende, ongesnoeide struiken. Gesnoeide hagen bloemen zelden of nooit.
Alle Prunussen vrezen erg vochtige gronden.
